Emil Eva Rosina

I have successfully defended my PhD thesis, entitled “Memory reports”, in Bochum on Wednesday, July 8th. I presented my claim that memory predicates denote non-novel evidential knowledge. And my claim that causalism, simulationism and epistemic theories of remembering are compatible when restricted to their different relations to natural language and conceptual analysis. The day after, I walked around Bochum lost in memories and felt very meta about it. The night after, I was kicked out of my night train to Vienna because the air conditioning was broken. Staring at the ceiling of a hotel room in Hannover, I thought that I will not miss that aspect of my PhD life. I feel ready for some changes. My revised dissertation is dedicated to multiple homes and being home more. I thank everyone who makes me feel home.

I’ve had the honor to be a co-referee of Lucie Kosů’s Master thesis “Gender mismatches under nominal ellipsis in Slavic languages” – my first time on a defense committee. Congratulations on an important contribution to the study of grammatical gender and on graduating with distinction!

The first article which I have ever edited (together with Valeria Gradimondo) has been published by Teo Šestak in our ESSLLI student session special issue of the Journal of Logic, Language and Information. It is titled “Algebraic Semantics for Interpretability Logics”. Other articles are following incrementally.

I’m in the ESSLLI 2026 organizational team, coordinating volunteers and “senior” advising the student session. I’m looking forward to what promises to be a super interesting time in Prague this Summer.

I am organizing the SORG, a semantics online reading group (only open for students and post-docs) on classic, foundational texts in formal semantics, based on this collection.
