SinFonIJA 19 in Graz has been as great as the previous editions – thanks to the organizers! I got elected as EDI (equity, diversity, inclusion) representative of PhOMO, The Philosophy of Memory Organization. I am honored by the trust put in me and am going to give my best to make philosophy of memory safer and more accessible.
I have successfully defended my PhD thesis, entitled “Memory reports”, on July 8th. I presented my claim that memory predicates denote non-novel evidential knowledge. And my claim that causalism, simulationism and epistemic theories of remembering are compatible when restricted to their different relations to natural language and conceptual analysis. I still believe both of these things!
Two proceedings papers of mine have been published: “The shared core of memory predicates is non-novel knowledge” in the Proceedings of Sinn und Bedeutung 30 (single-authored); and “Against non-temporal readings of time“ (p.207) in the proceedings of the 28th Seoul International Conference on Generative Grammar (SICOGG; with Michaela Hulmanová and Marcin Wągiel).
… and three lexicon entries – Einstellungsverb (‘attitude verb’), Einstellungsbericht (‘attitude report’), and Konjunktion (‘conjunction’) – in ‘Semantik und Pragmatik’, edited by Daniel Gutzmann, Katharina Turgay & Thomas Ede Zimmermann, De Gruyter ‘Wörterbücher zur Sprach- und Kommunikationswissenschaft’ (WSK; German).
New articles are being published incrementally in the ESSLLI student session Special Issue of the Journal of Logic, Language and Information which I am editing together with Valeria Gradimondo. Most recently: “A Diagnostic Framework for Compositional Generalization via NL-to-FOL Translation” by İbrahim Ethem Deveci. Congrats!
The winter semester edition of the SORG has started! The SORG is a semantics online reading group (only open for students and post-docs) which I’ve been organizing for several years now. We talk about classic, foundational texts in formal semantics, based on this collection. We also have special squib sessions upon request, e.g. before submission deadlines.
